1st OCA-JJAU Ju Jitsu Development Programme
On December 11 to 15, 2024, the 1st OCA-JJAU Ju Jitsu Development Programme for Coaches and Referees commenced in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The opening ceremony was met with great enthusiasm by all participants.
Mr. Fahad Al-Shamsi, the General Secretary of JJAU, and Wissam Trkmani, who serves as OCA’s Director of Development and NOC Relations, together with the 119 coaches and referees from 36 Asian National Olympic Committees enthusiastically kicked off the five-days camp at the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy with a unanimous ‘O-C-A’ cheer.
H.E Abdulmunem AL Hashmi, the Chairman of Ju Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) proudly welcomed and greeted all the participants. Additionally, he conveyed his appreciation to everyone who took part in the very 1st OCA-JJAU Ju Jiujitsu development programme.
During his opening remarks, Mr. Fahad Al-Shamsi, who serves as both the General Secretary of the Ju Jitsu Asian Union and UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his gratitude to the Olympic Council of Asia for selecting the UAE as the venue for this event. Mr. Fahad Al-Shamsi expressed gratitude towards the OCA for providing this great opportunity to the ju jitsu community in Asia. He was pleased to see all members of the JJAU to be present at this significant development programme. He encouraged both coaches and referees to pass on their newfound knowledge when they return home after the next few days.
The latest OCA development programme was welcomed by Mr. Wissam Trkmani, as he greeted all participants. This comprehensive program was launched in 2022 with the intention of being a convenient hub for sharing knowledge. It marks the fourth installment of development programs for coaches and referees across multiple sports. Mr. Trkmani, representing the OCA, is pleased to extend his warm welcome to all the participants of this ju-jitsu programme. It is his wish that each and every one will gain something valuable from this event and also wishes everyone will reap the rewards of this event.
Additionally, addressing attendees at the commencement event was Mr. Alexandre Nascimento, who has served as both head of instructors and head referee for the Ju-Jitsu International Federation since 2018. According to Mr. Nascimento, this presents a significant chance for the entirety of Asia, he also expressed his appreciation to the Olympic Council of Asia for providing this opportunity to gather and gain knowledge on the most recent techniques and regulations in jiu-jitsu
